The Battle of Appomattox courthouse on 9 April 1865 was the last major battle of the Civil War. Robert E. Lee and the Army of Northern Virginia surrendered later in the day on 9 April. This hand drawn map shows troop positions at 10am on Clover Hill. The legend at the bottom has an annotation for the actual house the surrender took place at. The map is titled "Memoranda, April 9 1865-10 O'clock A.M., Clover Hill (Appomattox Court House) Virginia"
