Battle in the French and Indian War fought on 9 July 1755, about 10 miles east of Pittsburgh. This battle is most famous for the leader of the British force, General Edward Braddock, was mortally wounded here. Alongside Braddock during the engagement and at the time of his death was colonial Colonel George Washington. During the battle Washington had two horses shot out from under him.
