The surprise attack on Pearl Harbor started at 0748 on 7 December 1941 on the US Pacific Fleet at anchor in Pearl Harbor, Oahu, territory of Hawaii. 353 Japanese planes attacked that day, sinking or damaging 21 ships and killing 2,403 US personnel. 18 of the sunken or damaged ships were returned to service before the war ended in 1945 (Arizona, Oklahoma, Utah).

This is a blueprint of the USS Arizona. 1,177 men died after four bombs hit the Arizona, with one hitting the forward magazines resulting in a total and complete loss of the Arizona at approximately 0810 minutes after the attack began. Arizona sunk in about 9 minutes.
