Fort Bowyer is located at the entrance to Mobile Bay, Alabama. During the War of 1812, the British attacked Fort Bowyer twice. In 1814 the Americans successfully repelled the British. In February 1815, the retreating forces from the Battle of New Orleans attacked again. The Treaty of Ghent, which ended the War of 1812, had been signed earlier on December 24th, 1814. The second British attack was successful and the fort was captured. This map is of the second assault.
