The Battle of Lake Erie was fought on 10 September 1813 on Lake Erie just outside of Put-In-Bay, Ohio and about 50 miles south of Detroit. The American victory led by Admiral Perry was an important strategic milestone as the Americans were able to control the lake for the rest of the War. Perry and the Americans captured all six of the ships that opposed them, led by British Admiral Barclay.
