The Allied invasion of Sicily, also known as Operation Husky, was fought from 9 July to 17 August, 1943. The Allies succeeded in capturing the island and setting up the invasion of Italy.  

This planning map shows expected invasion movements and expected gains post invasion to the "Final line to be established by initial operations."
