West Point, New York Forts Clinton and Montgomery Battle Map

American forts Clinton and Montgomery protected the Hudson River near West Point, New York. The British attacked on 6 October 1777 and quickly overran both forts. 

This British map shows the ground and naval units used in the taking of both forts, which were on the west side of the Hudson River. Also included are the locations of the boom and chain used by the Americans to disrupt British movement along the river. This chain was dismantled by the British after the capture of the forts.
