The Battle of Franklin was fought about 20 miles south of Nashville in which over 50,000 soldiers engaged on 30 November 1864. Confederate Lt. General Hood and his Army of Tennessee conducted numerous frontal assaults against Union (Army of the Ohio) fortified positions commanded by Major General Schofield resulting in a catastrophic loss to the Confederate Army.   

This map is hand drawn showing the line of defense around the city of Franklin along with the roads going in and out of the town.
